Hervey Bay Paint and Sip Recap: Theatre Masks, Sea Views, and a Room Full of Legends
Hervey Bay turned it on this weekend. It was hot, humid, and the kind of sticky weather where your hair makes decisions without consulting you first. But inside, it was even better. A room full of absolute weapons, a stack of canvases, cold drinks within reach, and that perfect Paint Juicy energy where strangers become mates in about seven minutes.
We ran a classic Paint and Sip session with a proper crowd, heaps of laughs, and that sweet moment when everyone realises, “Hang on, I might actually be good at this.” Spoiler, you were.

The minor chaos that kicked things off
We will own it. Lotti Rem and us got stuck in traffic coming up from the Sunny Coast and rolled in a smidge late. Not the dreamy entrance we planned, but honestly, it matched the vibe. Hervey Bay does not need perfection. It needs good people, good tunes, and paint on aprons. We delivered.
And the room was ready. Smiles on, brushes out, drinks poured, and the “are we doing this?” nervous excitement that turns into full confidence by the time the first layer dries.

The artwork: Comedy and Tragedy, but make it coastal
This session’s painting was a banger. Theatre masks (comedy and tragedy) floating above a glowing skyline, with deep blue water down the bottom and all those punchy light reflections that make it look fancy, even when you’re doing the simplest brush strokes.
Why it worked so well:
-
Big shapes, easy to follow.
-
Loads of room for personal style (colour swaps, extra stars, different skylines, wild masks).
-
That satisfying contrast between bright sky beams and moody water.

Some of you went bold and neon. Some kept it classic with blues and golds. Some of you made your masks look mischievous as hell, which felt emotionally accurate for a Paint Juicy crowd.
The venue and the view
One of the best bits was the space itself. Big windows, plenty of light, and that unmistakable Hervey Bay feel. Even indoors, you could sense the coast right there. It gave the whole session a holiday buzz, like you should be painting with one hand and holding a cheeky cocktail in the other.
The set-up was spot on for a proper session too, long tables, easels lined up, palettes out, and everyone settled in quickly. It had that friendly, easy flow where people can chat, sip, paint, and still keep up with the steps.

Lotti Rem on the mic, because silence is overrated
Once we landed, we got straight into it. Lotti Rem jumped on the mic and lifted the whole room. Live vocals in a Paint and Sip is such a cheat code. It turns “nice little art class” into “this is a full-blown outing.”
People popped up for a tune or two, had a sing, had a laugh, then went straight back into painting like nothing happened. The best kind of multitasking.

The crowd: Funny, friendly, and wildly talented
Hervey Bay, you lot were unreal.
The best part of these sessions is always the same: everyone starts with that cautious first layer, then suddenly the room flips. People start backing themselves. They stop whispering “I’m not artistic” (lies) and start making choices. Bright skies. Dramatic lighting. Extra detail in the water. Bigger, bolder outlines. More personality in the faces.
And the final artworks genuinely slapped. The group pics say it all, proud smiles, canvases up, and that “I did not expect this to turn out like that” look that we live for.

Best moments from the session
A few highlights that deserve a mention:
-
The first time the skyline went on and everyone realised how much it made the piece pop.
-
The water reflections, always the turning point from “flat” to “wow.”
-
The mask expressions. Some were cheeky, some were dramatic, some were suspiciously accurate representations of people’s exes (no comment).
What a Paint Juicy session is, and what it is not
This one hit that sweet spot we aim for every time. It was social, upbeat, and very “night out” even though it was a daytime coastal vibe.
Paint Juicy is entertainment first. You will learn heaps, but you’re not signing up for a silent masterclass where everyone whispers and judges brush strokes. You’re coming for fun, good music, big laughs, and walking out with a canvas you’re proud of.
Hervey Bay nailed that brief.

The pics, because receipts matter
If you’re scrolling this recap, the photos tell the story better than any sales pitch could. Bright colours, happy faces, aprons on, brushes in hand, and a whole line-up of finished paintings that all look different in the best way.
That is the magic. Same steps, totally different results, and everyone wins.

Next time we’re in Hervey Bay
If you missed this one, keep an eye on the next Hervey Bay Paint and Sip. These coastal sessions always go off, and the combo of sea-side energy plus Paint Juicy chaos is a guaranteed good time.
