Who we are now
Paint Juicy is led by James and Trenton. We plan the nights, design the artworks, host the room and still haul the boxes when needed. After a big shift that included selling our Burleigh Heads studio, and closing our Brisbane space, we rebuilt around what guests love most. Real people at the helm whom understand the artworks, strong playlists, friendly artists and a format that feels like a party, not a class. Today you will find us across partner venues in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, with regular tours and seasonal pop ups in Western Australia and Darwin. You will often see us in the room. When you do not, you will meet our local artist teams who carry the same spirit.

How we got here
We started with a simple idea. Make creativity easy and make nights out memorable like a party. We were sick and tired of any paint and sip experience that just sits there and tells us a step. Farrrkkkk its was so boring. Why not make it more vibrant, my God add some lights and fun tunes!
The journey has included packed out tours over the years, community fundraisers from Animal Welfare League Queensland and 100's to private endeavours, private milestones and a lot of canvases heading home in the back seat of your cars. We have learned where paint and people meet best and we keep shaping the format so first timers relax while confident makers still have room to play.
What we changed and why it matters
We once tried a head office structure. It looked tidy on paper and felt like progress for a bit, but it pulled us away from the creative heart of the work. The people at the desk were not the people on the mic and guests felt the gap where we saw it. Feedback was strong and the terrible circumstances that followed, gave us the biggest nudge to fix it. We tore out the layers, brought the creatives to the front and kept decision makers inside the room. The result is clean and simple. Your hosts are working artists from the paint world, plus performers from music and acting with real stage craft. They teach clearly, they read a room and they know how to turn a session into a shared experience.
We also experimented with a Brisbane studio that featured a stage, a proper bar and food service. The vision was a home for live performance inside paint and sip, from music to burlesque, a place where the show and the artwork met on purpose. It was bold and we learned a lot. The venue and location were not the right fit in that season, so we closed it. The ripple effects were very real, and they pushed us back to what sits at the core of Paint Juicy. Creativity first, be unique, lead with love and friendship, keep it human.

What it feels like as a guest with us
From the moment you walk in you are looked after. Warm lights, familiar music, clear instructions and a steady pace. We design every artwork with simple shapes, clean layers and easy wins that build confidence fast. You get time to sip, chat and add your own twist. If you want to follow the artwork step by step, we guide you from blank canvas to final lines. If you want to take your own path, do it. No one should ever tell you what your art is. You have your own journey and your vibe should shine.
We are refreshing our full gallery to the simple shapes method across the board, tuned for beginners and intermediates. Fewer steps, clearer wins and more time to sing, chat and still walk away with a wall worthy piece. That is progress, and it is rolling out across all themes and city calendars.

What you take away
-
A finished canvas you will actually hang, please don't jump forward
-
A shared memory for your group
-
A simple method you can repeat at home
-
Confidence to try the next design when you come again
Teaching that actually works
We are drawers and illustrators at heart. Pencils first, then paint. That background shapes how we teach. We break each piece into stages you can follow. Background, middle, details and finish. On mic we speak to the whole room, then we float between tables with the right tip at the right time. You will learn how to load a brush, blend a gradient, shape a silhouette and pull a clean edge. The aim is confidence. The outcome is a canvas that looks better than you expected, even if you last painted in Year 8.
Themes and formats
Our themed singalong sessions turn the dial up. We build nights around 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s favourites, Movies, ABBA, Karaoke and Country classics. The playlist sets the rhythm, quick games break the ice and the crowd gets louder in the best way. It still runs like a workshop, yet it lands like live entertainment. You paint, you sing, you laugh and the whole room lifts.

Inclusion and age policy
Inclusion matters. Community matters. If you are in our room, you are part of it. We keep the tone friendly and the instructions clear so mixed groups feel welcome. We may say something silly but please don't hate us for it. All open sessions are 12 years and up, apart from male model nights which remain adults only. That means most of the family can join in for birthdays, school holidays and long weekends. Open sessions, open hearts.
Where you will find us
We pop up in pubs, clubs, breweries, restaurants and function spaces across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Bundaberg, Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Tamworth, Armidale and more. Venues hold the liquor licence and keep every dollar of food and beverage. We handle ticketing, set up, hosting and a tidy pack down. The partnership is clean which keeps the night smooth for you. Seasonal pop ups in Western Australia and Darwin round out the tour map when timing lines up.

Our artists and hosts
Paint Juicy runs with a bigger crew than you might expect. In each city we have artists and hosts who live locally and work regularly. Many are practising painters. Others come from music, theatre and comedy. They know how to set a room, how to help a nervous first timer and how to give space to the confident maker. You get to know them and they get to know you. It does not feel like a roster. It feels like a team you recognise.
On the road with us
We travel often which keeps ideas fresh and playlists evolving. Most weeks you will find James and Trenton somewhere between coast and country with Bert and Penelope trotting along, making friends on the foreshore, chasing good coffee and soaking up the scenery. That energy comes back into the sessions. It feels like catching up with mates who hand you a canvas, a brush and a chorus you forgot you knew.
Private bookings and teams
Hens parties, birthdays, reunions, baby showers, end of year functions and team building all work beautifully. You choose the date, we help pick the design and venue, then we bring the full kit and host the show. The structure does the heavy lifting so you get all the photos and none of the stress. For teams, it is an easy icebreaker that ends with a shared win for the office wall.
Access and small details
Want to be a venue partner? We favour venues with parking options, accessible entries and room to move between easels. Seating is set before the doors open so groups can sit together. We build in natural breaks for drinks, photos and a stretch. Aprons are provided, although paint can be assertive so dress for comfort. If you have access needs, tell us when you book and we will make a plan.
Recognition and trust
Since 2021 we have been recognised in the Best of Queensland Experiences program for each year we have operated. The recognition is driven by guest feedback and consistent delivery. Awards matter, but repeat guests matter more. We have welcomed more than 29,000 people and the number keeps climbing because word of mouth is strong.
A note from James and Trenton
We are often on the road with Bert and Penelope, chasing good coffee, sunsets and loud singalongs. If you message us, it is us replying. If you are in the room, come say hello.
