Penrith 80s and 90s Paint and Sip Recap May 2026: Peacocks, Duets and a Full House

Penrith turned up. The function room was packed end to end, the easels were lined up like a peacock parade, and Lotti Rem was on the mic stretching every chorus until the back row sang it back twice as loud. Then the family band took over. Here's how the May 2026 Penrith 80s and 90s Paint and Sip went down.

Full house, every chair filled, every easel busy

Some Friday nights you can read the room from the door. The minute we wheeled the gear in for this one, you could feel it. Tickets had been ticking over for weeks. By the time the doors opened, the room filled fast and stayed full. Every chair claimed, every easel set up with a fresh canvas, brushes, paints, palette and apron, every guest already chatting to the people on either side like they'd booked it together months ago. Penrith does this. It just shows up ready.

The crowd was the kind that makes a Paint Juicy night easy. Mums and daughters at the same table. Mates from work. A handful of regulars who'd been to two or three sessions already and brought a friend they'd been talking up for weeks. A couple of partners who'd been dragged along and were obviously about to enjoy themselves more than they'd let on at the door.

Peacocks were the artwork and the room ran wild with them

The painting for the night was the Paint Juicy peacock. Big regal head front and centre, fan of feathers behind, plenty of room in the eye spots and the body for personal colour calls. It's our signature 80s and 90s artwork and it earns its keep every time. Easy enough for a beginner to follow step by step. Detailed enough that the finished canvas looks like it took skill. By step three the basic shape is there. By step five the feathers are popping and the room starts comparing.

What makes the peacock work is the variation. Same brief, totally different outcomes. Some guests went bold blue with copper and orange feathers. Some went hot pink and yellow. One went full sunset, fiery red and gold. One went cool teal and white. One went rogue and painted a cat on the disco peacock body, which we are entirely here for. The peacock is a guide, not a rule. The best Paint Juicy nights are the ones where every canvas in the room ends up its own thing.

Lotti Rem on the mic, then the family band took over

Lotti was hosting and singing the room into the moment. Every Paint Juicy 80s and 90s playlist hits a few peaks, and Lotti times the choruses for the moments when guests need their hands to dry between paint layers. Singalong moments built into every step. Whitney, Tina, Cyndi, Bon Jovi, the Bangles, Madonna, Cher, the lot. Three hours of choruses you cannot help but yell along to.

Then the family band took over. James's sister Natalie, who came along to support, could not help herself. Lotti held the mic out, Natalie stepped up, and the two of them launched into a duet that the room got fully behind. James saw what was happening, decided he wasn't being upstaged at his own session, and grabbed the second mic. Three voices, one chorus, a packed function room of Penrith locals belting along. That's the kind of moment Paint Juicy nights are built to make space for. Real, unscripted, slightly chaotic, completely on brand.

Penrith is the kind of crowd that makes the room

Every market we run sessions in has a personality. Penrith leans toward big-energy, loud-laugh, will-absolutely-sing nights. The room shows up early, dresses up properly when the brief calls for it, and treats a Friday night Paint and Sip like a proper night out, not a quiet sit-down activity. Western Sydney has the kind of social culture where people bring their crew along and stay until the lights come up. We feel it every time we run a session out there and this one was no exception.

What is a Paint Juicy 80s and 90s night, exactly?

Three hours, one canvas, a roomful of singing, no art school energy. We bring everything: easels, canvases, paints, brushes, aprons, the host, the mic, the lights, the sound. You bring your group, your favourite drink and a willingness to belt out a chorus when the moment lands. Paint Juicy is 100% mobile. We come to the venue, set up around you and pack down at the end.

Public sessions are $59 per person standard. Bottomless sessions at licensed venues are $99 with the venue handling the food and drinks. Most events are 18+. Some are 12+ with a paying guardian along for the ride. Bottomless and nude life drawing sessions are strictly 18+.

Plan Your Private Session

Coming to a Paint Juicy night for the first time?

Couple of things worth knowing. You don't need any painting experience. The host walks the room through every step on the mic, slowly enough that anyone can keep up, with enough room in each step that you can do your own thing if you want to. The painting is yours to take home, wet or dry, and we wrap it up so it travels safely. You get an apron so the dressup outfit survives. Drinks come from the bar at the venue or whatever you've brought along, depending on the session. The room turns into a chorus, the canvases turn out better than you expect, and the photos at the end are the best part.

Big love to the Penrith crowd who packed the room out, to Lotti for running the night, to Natalie for stepping up to the mic without a moment's hesitation, and to James for refusing to be outsung at his own session. We'll see you at the next one.
