What exactly happens at a paint and sip event?

Knowing exactly what is coming makes the night easier to enjoy. Here is the complete rundown of a Paint Juicy session from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave with your painting under your arm.

Arriving

The room is already set up when guests arrive. Every seat has a canvas on an easel, a brush set, a palette of acrylic paints in the colours for that night's design and an apron waiting. Water cups and paper towels are at each station.

You find your seat, put the apron on and settle in. The event starts on time so aim to arrive five to ten minutes before the listed start time.

The welcome

The host opens the session with a welcome to the group, introduces themselves and explains what is happening tonight. They will show the completed painting reference so you can see where you are headed. They will also explain the format - step-by-step painting with singalong moments and games built in throughout.

For most first-timers, nerves drop here. The host is warm, funny and deliberately reassuring without being patronising.

The painting

The painting begins. The host demonstrates the first step and then the group follows along. Steps build on each other - first a background, then main shapes, then colour layers, then detail, then finishing touches.

At Paint Juicy sessions, singalong moments and games are woven in between painting steps. These are not optional extras - they are part of the format. The whole room participates. This is what makes the session feel like a party rather than a class.

The reveal

The host announces the final step. Everyone adds their last touches. The host counts down, everyone holds up their canvas and the room erupts.

The comparison moment is genuinely one of the best parts of any paint and sip session. Twenty canvases with the same starting point and twenty completely different results. Laughter, surprise, pride.

After the session

Canvases are carefully bagged by the Paint Juicy team. They will be dry enough to handle safely by the end of the session in most cases. Any that are still slightly wet will be handled carefully by the team.

The Paint Juicy team packs the room down completely. Guests stay for another drink and a debrief if the venue allows. Most do.

You leave with your canvas, a memory and probably paint on your hands despite the apron. That is a well-lived Paint Juicy session.
