6 Things To Do In Palm Beach At Night: Marketta Music, Nobbys Nights And Lookout Light

Palm Beach is the stretch the locals quietly think is the best bit of the Gold Coast, and they might be right. PB and its neighbours pack Australia's original street food night market, the Nobbys dining strip, a headland lookout with views both ways and kilometres of beach that empty out at dusk. This guide covers the whole middle-south run, Palm Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami and Elanora, written by the crew that tours this stretch and has never once heard PB hold back a chorus.

Each venue was open and trading when we checked in June 2026, locations included, which leaves the group chat free to argue about Marketta orders instead. Winter on this stretch means clear nights, quiet sand and an undercover night market that does not care about the weather.

1. Street food and live music at Miami Marketta

23 Hillcrest Parade, Miami. The original. Miami Marketta opened in 2012 as Australia's first established street food night market, and the laneway formula still cannot be beaten: global food vendors under one roof, boutique bars, free live music on the Cargo Stage and ticketed gigs that pull serious touring names. Street food nights run Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm with the big weekend events stacked around them, the whole venue is undercover, and one lap of the vendors will ruin your ability to order decisively forever.

2. Dinner on the Nobbys strip

Nobby Beach village, Gold Coast Highway at Lavarack Road. The pocket-sized dining strip at Nobbys punches absurdly above its weight: a few blocks of restaurants, bars and dessert spots that turned a sleepy beach village into one of the coast's favourite nights out. The strip rewards the stroll-first-commit-second approach, the popular rooms fill fast on weekends, and the beach is one street away when the night needs air. Small, loud, delicious, very Gold Coast.

3. Dusk on Palm Beach

Palm Beach foreshore, between Nineteenth and Tallebudgera. PB's beach is the locals' great untold secret: a long, wide, mostly unbothered stretch where the evening walk runs for kilometres with the surf on one side and the suburb winding down on the other. At dusk the sand empties, the light goes gold against the high-rises of Burleigh to the north, and the takeaway-on-the-dune dinner remains undefeated. Free, uncrowded, and at its absolute best on a still winter evening.

4. The creek mouth at Palm Beach Parklands

Palm Beach Parklands, at the Tallebudgera Creek entrance. Where the famous green creek meets the sea sits one of the southern coast's best evening parklands: lawns running to the water, the creek mouth glowing at golden hour and Burleigh headland lit up across the channel. It is made for the sunset picnic, the flat water stays calm while the surf rolls past outside, and the whole scene resets to peaceful the moment the day-trippers head home.

5. Sunset at North Burleigh Lookout

Mick Schamburg Park, The Esplanade, Miami. The headland between Miami and North Burleigh hides one of the coast's best two-way lookouts: south over the sweep toward Burleigh and the border, north along the full glittering run to Surfers. Sunset paints both directions at once, the Miami Stairs below add a workout for anyone feeling virtuous, and the photographers already know about it, so claim a rail early on clear winter evenings. Free, five minutes off the highway, and criminally undervisited.

6. A paint and sip singalong (yes, ours, and PB packs a chorus)

Leaving our own night off a PB guide would be selling the suburb short. Paint Juicy runs paint and sip events in Palm Beach, three hours of painting with a guide leading the way, a full-room singalong and a drink beside the canvas, zero experience needed. Tickets are $59, and the themes roll through 80s and 90s nights, ABBA and Movie Magic.

The exit haul: one canvas, one stubborn earworm and a camera roll worth scrolling. This stretch of the coast is home turf for us, and the southern end has never once let a chorus down.

Make a night of it, PB style

Our perfect Palm Beach night: North Burleigh Lookout for sunset, then Marketta until the Cargo Stage finishes with you. Our perfect cheap one: takeaway on the PB dune at dusk, total spend the price of the chips. Either side of the stretch, our guides to Burleigh Heads at night and Currumbin at night have the neighbours sorted, the Miami and Currumbin lineups are minutes away, and the full Gold Coast lineup runs the length of the strip, with our Main Beach and Labrador night guides coming next.

THE BIG ONE: Marketta's free street food and live music nights run Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm, with the big ticketed gigs around them, check the calendar and pick your lane. The venue is fully undercover, so a winter cold snap is an excuse to go, not to stay home.
