Nambucca Waterfront: Stuart Island Dog Park Wander
Blue skies, clear water and a light breeze set the tone for a slow wander at Stuart Island Dog Park on the Nambucca waterfront. We crossed the causeway, tucked into the shade of the trees and let the day idle by while the tide riffled the mangroves. Penelope and Bert took the lead, noses down and tails on a mission, and found every shallow puddle worth a splash.

The vibe
This spot is built for easy. Wide water views open in both directions, the foreshore is dotted with shade, and you can hear the river before you see it. The mangrove edges make the colours pop, with green against that calm Nambucca blue.
Foreshore wander with the pups
Leads on, harnesses clipped and off we went. The surface is friendly for older paws and the shady patches give you natural rest stops. There are small tidal pools near the mangroves that are perfect for a careful paddle. Penelope staked out the puddles, Bert inspected the shoreline, and we stood at the railing taking in the view across the causeway.

What to look for
-
The long run of water towards the sandbars, great for wide photos
-
Mangrove roots catching the light at low tide
-
Shaded benches under the trees when the sun bites
-
Calm eddies along the edge where the dogs can cool their paws
Simple plan
-
Aim for morning or late afternoon for cooler temps and softer light
-
Pack water for humans and hounds
-
Keep to signed areas and respect other walkers and anglers
-
Bring a towel for those inevitable puddle splashes
Nearby and next
If you are making a day of it, the waterfront pairs nicely with a coffee stop in town and a slow loop back over the causeway for another angle on the river. The views change with the tide, so even a short return stroll feels different.
