6 Date Night Ideas In Broadbeach: Dressed Up, Wound Down, Walking Distance
Broadbeach is the Gold Coast's grown-up date suburb: all the energy of Surfers next door with none of the chaos, a dining precinct that keeps collecting hats, a show-and-dinner complex glowing on its own island and a beachfront wide enough to walk off dessert. Best of all, the entire evening happens on foot, which means nobody has to be the designated driver of the romance.
Every idea below comes from our own touring notes for Broadbeach and Mermaid Beach, the rooms and footpaths we know from wheeling easels through them. Do it all in one polished evening or stretch it across the season. Winter here means clear beachfront nights and warm dining rooms, which is exactly the combination a date wants.
1. The golden hour lap from Kurrawa
Kurrawa Park, Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach. Start where Broadbeach meets the sand. Kurrawa Park rolls straight onto one of the widest beaches on the coast, and the oceanway path is the suburb's best free date: south toward Mermaid as the sky goes pink, or north with the Surfers skyline lighting up ahead of you. After dark the lit path and the sound of the surf get the whole stretch to themselves, which is when the hand-holding statistics spike.
2. Dinner in the Broadbeach precinct
Surf Parade, Oracle Boulevard and Broadbeach Town Square. Pound for pound the best dining precinct on the Gold Coast, with Greek, Italian, Japanese, steak and cocktail rooms stacked into a few walkable blocks and alfresco tables spilling onto the boulevards year round. The date move is a slow lap before committing, the precinct rewards indecision, and the late dessert stop on the way back to the beachfront is mandatory. Book ahead for the hatted rooms on weekends.
3. A show at The Star
1 Casino Drive, Broadbeach Island. The biggest night out on the coast under one roof, and a ready-made date formula: book the theatre show first, then build dinner and drinks around it without ever moving the car. The calendar stacks touring acts, tribute nights and comedy, the restaurants run from casual to five-star, and the bars do not rush you. The big shows sell out, so the couple that books early gets the good seats.
4. Friday night at the Beachfront Markets
Kurrawa foreshore, first and third Friday evening of each month. Twice a month the foreshore turns into a proper night market: local artisans, food vendors, live music and fairy lights with the surf as the soundtrack. Entry is free, the browsing is slow by design and it turns an ordinary Friday into the easiest date in the suburb. Check the dates line up before you lock it in, then come hungry.
5. Mermaid Beach at dusk
Hedges Avenue and the Mermaid Beach foreshore. One suburb south, the pace drops completely. A dusk walk along the wide, uncrowded sand backed by Hedges Avenue, the famous millionaire's row, doubles as a real estate fantasy tour, and the game of picking which house you would buy together has carried more dates than we can count. The oceanway connects it straight back to Broadbeach for the dinner lap home.
6. A paint and sip date at the easels
Ours closes the list because it is the one we can vouch for personally. Paint Juicy runs paint and sip sessions in Broadbeach, three hours side by side at the easels with an artist guiding every brushstroke, all supplies provided, a singalong that takes over the room and tickets from $59. You both leave with matching canvases and the month's best photos. Not sure it is your speed? Here is the honest answer to whether paint and sip makes a good date, and for a taste of a Gold Coast room in full flight, our biggest paint and sip on the Gold Coast recap shows the scale we bring.
Make a night of it, Broadbeach style
Our perfect Broadbeach date: the Kurrawa lap at golden hour, dinner in the precinct, then a show at The Star. For the full after-dark rundown, our guide to things to do in Broadbeach at night goes deeper, our Surfers Paradise date night ideas cover the neon end and our Burleigh Heads date night ideas hold down the headland.
