“The whole room felt like joy!!”

Thermie Carmie, five-star Google review

Step-by-step guided painting, a singalong playlist and a room full of people actually having a go. You leave with a finished canvas and a genuinely good night on the record.

Good to know: 18+ only. No BYO, bar at venue.

What this night is

On 24 October we're bringing our 70s and 80s singalong night to The Queenslander on Chambers Flat Road, with painting kicking off at 6pm and Lotti Rem on live vocals the whole way through. Nobody has to babysit the group chat or argue about where to eat, because the plan is simply to turn up, grab a drink and pick up a brush.

A 6pm Saturday start means nobody is racing in from work. The kitchen is open on the night, which is a very persuasive argument for arriving hungry. When your host calls a break between layers, the bar is right there for top ups, and there's a spacious beer garden if you need a breather between choruses.

The soundtrack opens with 70s disco and drifts into big 80s power ballads, the kind that turn a room of strangers into one very committed backing choir by the third chorus. Lotti carries the tune and your host artist carries the painting, calling each layer from the front of the room, so the only thing you need to bring is a willingness to have a go.

It suits a birthday that's sick of being another dinner booking, and it works just as well for a couple of mates who haven't had a proper Saturday out in months. Marsden sits about four kilometres south of Logan Central and roughly 24 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, so The Queenslander is a quick drive from Crestmead, Kingston, Loganlea, Browns Plains, Park Ridge and Logan Reserve, and an easy one from Beenleigh and Springwood.

Rather make it a Friday? The same 70s and 80s night lands at The Junction Hotel the evening before, on the Annerley paint and sip page. There's also an 80s and 90s Sunday afternoon at LIONS@springwood on 20 December, listed with every other Logan paint and sip date, and the full spread sits under paint and sip across Queensland.

Tonight's Artwork

Prick My Interest

This one is a desert at dusk, and it is a ripper. The sky runs in bold stripes from deep blue at the top, through a turquoise band and fiery orange, down to a sunny yellow glow behind the hills. A white crescent moon and three little starbursts hang above it all. Down on the sand, two towering saguaro cacti throw their arms in the air, with a few smaller ones scattered over the dunes. Bright, bold and beginner friendly.

How the night runs

1

Arrive early, grab a drink, find your seat. Everything is already set up at your easel.

2

Host kicks off with Lotti Rem on vocals, playlist locked in, painting begins step by step from blank canvas.

4

Final details, group photo, canvas wrapped. You leave with something worth hanging and a story worth telling.

FAQs

Is the singing live?

Yes. Lotti Rem is on vocals for the entire session, covering the 70s and 80s while you paint. It's a real performer in the room, with the host artist running the painting beside her.

What will my canvas look like?

It's called Prick My Interest. Picture a desert at dusk with a sky striped in deep blue, turquoise, orange and yellow, a white crescent moon, and two tall saguaro cacti reaching skyward as if their song just came on.

When does it kick off and finish?

Brushes start moving at 6pm on Saturday 24 October and the night wraps within 3 hours, so you're done by roughly 9pm.

Do I need to know how to paint?

No. The host demonstrates each stage on the mic and you copy along at your own pace. If your cactus ends up leaning a little, it just looks like it's dancing harder than the others.

What if I don't want to sing?

Then don't. You'll still have a ripper of a night. Fair warning though, the 80s moments are contagious and the quiet ones are often the loudest by 8pm.

Is one ticket okay, or do I need a group?

One is plenty. Lots of guests come solo and we'll put you at a table with good company, so you won't be painting in a corner by yourself.

How do separate bookings end up at the same table?

Use the "sitting with friends" note at checkout. Everyone in your crew types the same group name and you'll be seated together.

Is BYO allowed?

No. The Queenslander is a licensed venue with a bar on site and a kitchen on site, so grab your food and drinks there.

Can we bring the birthday girl or the bride-to-be?

Please do. Mention the guest of honour in your checkout note, and the host will make sure they get a shout-out mid-session.

How do I get tickets?

Online through this page. Tickets aren't sold at the door at The Queenslander, so lock yours in before Saturday.

Can our crew book a private night instead?

Yes. Book a private session and you pay $700 AUD flat for the first 10 people, then $65 a head beyond that, with 10 paid seats as the minimum. Your group picks the artwork from the Paint Juicy catalogue, and colour or detail tweaks cost nothing extra. See how private paint and sip parties work.

"A debut for me. It was so well organised, the singer was so good and very entertaining as were the two guys. Great safe venue, no judgement, everyone had a ball and unleashed their inner artist. Fabulous night."

We attended Paint Juicy in Yeppoon, painting the beautiful turtle. That's what drew me to this event - it's actually something I'd like to proudly show off on my wall. The whole team were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The instructors and helpers were really patient and made it super easy to produce our own artworks. The live musician made the whole atmosphere feel like a great big party of "friends we haven't met yet" while we were singing along to music that took us back to adolescent memories. And it was great to see everyone walking around admiring each other's paintings while they dried and chatting with their creators.
We had a ton of fun and despite not feeling like I'm particularly arty, I was really proud to have produced a beautiful keepsake and reminder of a great night out with friends. Thanks team, we will definitely keep an eye out for the next time you come back to Yeppoon.
