Brand safety in experiential marketing usually means keeping a brand away from the wrong headlines. At Paint Juicy CONNECT we start one step earlier, with the room itself. A Paint night belongs to the women who booked it: friends, sisters, mums and workmates out for a singalong, a canvas worth hanging and up to 3 hours with their favourite people.
Every brand that joins them plays by the same short rulebook, and here it is in plain sight: the categories we turn away, the promises we make to guests, and how we judge a borderline brief. If you're a guest who clicked through wondering what a sponsor means for your night out, pull up a chair. This page is written for you too.

Why we publish the no list before you ask
Most sponsorship conversations save the awkward bit for the third meeting. We'd rather lead with it, so your energy goes into a great idea instead of a late surprise.
Paint's headline rooms are booked on trust. When 151 people fill a room in Springfield for ABBA, or 120 pack out Currumbin for an 80s and 90s singalong, they came because a friend promised a ripper night and because Paint holds 4.9 stars on Google. That trust is the stage every partner stands on, so we guard it from both sides: guests from brands that don't fit, and good brands from awkward neighbours in the goodie bag.
It makes sign-off easier too. A one-shop florist and a national label face the same test, and nobody buys an exemption, so your legal team knows every brand beside you passed it. Agencies can forward this page as it stands, and Paint Juicy CONNECT for agencies covers briefing for a client. Paint has also been recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience every year since 2022. The full picture of what brands can do lives on the Paint Juicy CONNECT hub.

Seven categories that stay outside the door
Paint Juicy CONNECT turns these categories away at any budget and in any format, for reasons guests and venues recognise instantly.
Gambling and betting
A Paint night is a night off. A betting brand turns a relaxed evening into a nudge to have a punt, and venues carry gaming obligations of their own. It's also why every prize at Paint is earned on skill: the whole night stays on the same side of that line.
Pharmaceutical (drug) companies
Medical decisions belong in a consult room, not between the second layer and the chorus. The Therapeutic Goods Administration states that advertising prescription-only medicines directly to the public is prohibited, and we'd rather stay well clear of that line.
Multi-level marketing and party-plan reps
Part of the magic at Paint is that the woman at the next easel is simply a new friend. The moment she might be a rep with a starter kit, every chat at the table feels like a pitch. Friendship is the one thing in the room no sponsor gets to borrow.
Quick loans and payday lending
The federal government's own money site, Moneysmart, puts it bluntly: if you're struggling to pay your bills, don't get a payday loan. Fast credit has no place on a night that's meant to be a treat.
Weight-loss products
Guests come to celebrate, often with cake and bubbles in front of them. A weight-loss pitch turns that celebration into a comment on her body, in front of her friends, on a night she chose for joy. She won't hear it from us.
Anything made or sold for under-18s
Paint nights are built on grown-up humour, the music our guests grew up with and, at plenty of venues, a bar. Products aimed at under-18s don't belong in that room.
Anything involving animals in entertainment
No live animals at activations, no animals as prizes, no brands built on animal entertainment and no animal sports of any kind. Venues have their own rules, guests bring allergies nobody can see, and animal welfare matters to us.
None of this judges the people in those industries. It's about what fits a night out with friends. Don't see your category here? Then let's talk.

The singalong is the headliner. Brands are the support act.
Ask a Paint guest what she loved and she won't describe a brush technique. She'll tell you about the moment the whole room hit the chorus of a song she hadn't sung since high school. That moment is why people book, rebook and bring their sisters, so no sponsor gets to touch it.
Here's how that plays out from your seat. You'll never lose a chorus to a sponsor. Nobody talks over the host while she's showing you how to blend the next layer. Three businesses backing your night still adds up to one night out, not three ad breaks. The host picks the moment for any brand, because she can tell when a room is ready to listen and when it just wants Dancing Queen again. Brands read the caps that protect the night long before a contract turns up.
That's good news for brands. A guest whose favourite song got cut short remembers who cut it. A guest who met your brand in the middle of the best night of her month remembers that instead.

Six promises every guest can hold us to
These promises travel with every Paint night that carries a CONNECT partner, from the Gold Coast to Armidale. Brands agree to them in writing. Guests never have to ask.

If you're a guest, here's what this means for your night
Sit down, grab a brush and relax. Your night is still your night. You'll paint, you'll sing, you'll probably shout a trivia answer with more confidence than accuracy, and you'll head home with a canvas you're proud of.
If a brand is involved, we'll tell you. It might mean a treat in your goodie bag, a trivia round with a local business on the title card or a voucher for something free. Nobody will follow you to your table or wave a clipboard at you.
And if a partner moment ever feels off, tell us. These rules exist because we'd rather lose a sponsor than lose your trust. Paint has welcomed 42,000+ guests, and the words that turn up most in our reviews are still "fun" and "atmosphere".

When a brief sits close to the line
Not every brief lands neatly on yes or no. Some products sit right beside an excluded category. Some campaigns are fine but the mechanic isn't. We read the brief through the eyes of the woman at the table and ask three questions.
- Would she welcome this at her table, on a night out with her friends?
- Would the venue be comfortable with it under its own licence and house rules?
- Does any part of it lean on her to buy, sign up, borrow or change something about herself?
A brief then lands in one of three places: a clear yes, a yes with changes (usually a different format, theme or mechanic), or a no with the reason given plainly. You hear it early, before anyone talks scope.
How that thinking could play out (illustrations, not real partners)
- A cosmetic clinic. Skincare samples, a voucher for a facial and a pamper corner suit the night beautifully. Prescription-only injectables stay out of the room entirely. Our marketing ideas for allied health and cosmetic clinics go further.
- A wellness brand. Herbal tea, a pillow spray or a stretching corner after an hour hunched at the easel? Lovely. A pitch about shrinking or dropping a dress size crosses into weight-loss territory, so that version never runs.
- A great brand with a chance-based giveaway. Love the brand, change the mechanic: the prize goes to the best canvas or the sharpest trivia table.
Whatever we agree is written into your proposal, so the rules your brand signed up to are the rules our hosts deliver. For the journey from first brief to signed proposal, see how Paint Juicy CONNECT works.

Brand safety questions, answered straight
Is alcohol on the no list?
No. Wineries, brewers, distillers and other drinks brands are welcome, under firm conditions. A tasting or any licensed moment only runs once the venue approves it, on the venue's own licence and with its responsible service of alcohol in place. Anything involving alcohol is strictly 18+, and the listing says so. If a venue isn't comfortable, the brand gets a different way into the night, never a workaround.
Can a brand pay extra to get around the no list?
No. The list doesn't move for a bigger budget, a longer contract or a clever format. If it did, it would stop protecting guests and stop meaning anything to the brands who rely on it. Every category on it earned its place by what it would do to a guest's night, and the size of the cheque doesn't change that.
I'm a guest. Will a sponsor ever contact me after the night?
Only if you invite them to. Paint never passes your name, email, mobile or booking details to a sponsor, in any form. If a brand's offer appeals, you can scan its code and sign up on its own page, under its own privacy policy. If you don't, you'll never hear from it, and your goodie bag and your night stay exactly the same.
Our brand fits, but our campaign is built around a chance-based giveaway. Can we still work together?
Yes, with a different mechanic. Paint doesn't run games of chance on the night or promote them to guests, so your prize goes to skill instead: the best canvas, the sharpest trivia table or the best-dressed guest for the theme. And the whole room cheers whoever wins it.
Your move
Bring us a brand that belongs in the room
Why Paint Juicy CONNECT? Because Paint Juicy connects! If your brand can add something to a night out with friends and happily play by these rules, we'd love to meet it. Send a few lines about what you sell and the towns that matter most. Trent or James will write back themselves with an honest read on fit, and a plain no if that's the answer. See where Paint is singing next below.
