“The whole room felt like joy!!”
Thermie Carmie, five-star Google review
Your Friday just got a serious upgrade. 80s and 90s bangers, step-by-step painting, singalong moments and a room full of people who know every word. You leave with a finished canvas and a sore voice.
Good to know: 18+ only. No BYO, bar at venue.

What this session is
Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday in 2027, which leaves Friday 12 February wide open for the people who actually laugh at your jokes. Paint Juicy is at the Hervey Bay Boat Club on Buccaneer Drive from 6pm, right on the Urangan marina, with an 80s and 90s singalong and a cheeky little owl waiting on every easel.
Lotti Rem sings the lot live. The night opens on neon synth pop and the sort of power ballad that was made for a hairbrush microphone, then the 90s roll in with Spice-era girl power, boy band harmonies and the Aussie rock that soundtracked every Blue Light disco. Your host keeps the painting moving from the mic, and each pause between layers is your chance to grab a drink while the paint dries and the next chorus builds.
The club looks across the harbour towards K'gari and the Great Sandy Strait, and it has two bars, including one out on the big deck, so arrive a little early and take in the view with a drink before brushes go up. Parking at the club is free, which takes care of the usual Friday night circling.
Round up the girls for a Galentine's night, or bring the sister who still knows every word to the songs you both wore out on cassette. Such a Hoot is the canvas, a teal and blue owl with enormous eyes, and those eyes are much friendlier to paint than they look. Nobody needs experience, only a willingness to have a go.
Brushes are down around 9pm, leaving the rest of your Friday free. It's a quick drive from Point Vernon, Pialba, Scarness, Torquay, Kawungan and Eli Waters, and Urangan locals are only minutes away. Can't make Friday? We're in Maryborough the following night, and every Fraser Coast date we've booked sits on the Hervey Bay paint and sip page, alongside the rest of our 80s and 90s singalongs.
Tonight's Artwork
Such a Hoot
A wide-eyed little owl perches on a branch, all teal and blue feathers with flecks of green, gold and lilac running through its fluffy chest. Those big round eyes are the showstopper, and they are far easier to paint than they look. Warm apricot tones wash the background, olive leaves sit up top and burnt orange autumn leaves frame the base. Loose, bright and full of character, this one builds up layer by layer until the final white highlights bring the whole cheeky little face to life. You will want to hang this one the moment it dries.

FAQs
Is there a live singer?
Yes, Lotti Rem, and she sings for the whole session, moving the room from 80s synth anthems into the 90s while you paint.
Which painting are we doing?
Such a Hoot, a wide-eyed owl in teal and blue feathers with flecks of gold and lilac, sitting on a branch between olive and burnt orange leaves against a warm apricot sky. It's from our catalogue, and private bookings can have the colours adjusted for free.
What time do brushes go up, and when do they come down?
Painting begins at 6pm, the session lasts up to 3 hours, and you'll be back in the car by about 9pm.
Do I need to be good at art?
Not even slightly. Every step is demonstrated before you paint it, and the feathers are loose, quick strokes, so first-timers end up with an owl they're proud of.
Will I have to sing in front of people?
Only if you want to. There's no solo spot, and once Lotti gets the room going your voice disappears happily into the crowd.
Can I book just one seat?
Yes. Book a single ticket and we'll seat you with a welcoming group, so you're in the thick of it from the opening chorus.
Our friends are on different bookings. Can we be seated as one group?
Yes. Give your group a name and type it into the "sitting with friends" note at checkout on every order, and we'll keep you all on one table.
Is there food and drink at the venue, or can I BYO?
It's a no on BYO, but you won't go hungry or thirsty. The Boat Club has its own bars plus places to eat, including the Harbourview Restaurant and Lighthouse Cafe.
Is it good for a hens night, birthday or Galentine's group?
Ideal. Let us know in a checkout note whose hens, birthday or Galentine's it is, and they'll be singled out for a shout-out on the night.
Do I need a Boat Club membership, or can I pay at the door?
Neither. The club welcomes members and the public alike, though guests who look 25 or under are asked for ID and the dress code rules out swimwear and bare feet. Tickets are sold only online on this page, never at the door.
Can our group have a private session?
Yes. Up to 10 guests costs a flat $700 AUD, each extra guest is $65, and there's a 10 paid seat minimum. Choose any catalogue painting and we'll tweak the colours free. Find out about private sessions.
