Thermie Carmie, five-star Google review
Real nights, real canvases
Painted by real guests
Every one of these Prick My Interest cactus canvases was painted by a guest at a Paint Juicy night, one step at a time, somewhere between the singalongs. No art skills needed. Yours is next.

Every night's playlist is a little different, so treat this as the vibe, not the setlist.
Step-by-step guided painting, a singalong playlist and a room full of people actually having a go. You leave with a finished canvas and a genuinely good afternoon on the record.

What this session is
Saturday in the Hunter Valley usually means a tasting paddle and a long lunch. On 12 December we're adding a paintbrush to the plan. Paint Juicy rolls into RidgeView Wines in Pokolbin at 1pm with a 70s and 80s singalong, right at the end of Sweetwater Road, where the cellar door looks over the vines and the view runs down the valley towards the Brokenback Range.
Lotti Rem sings live from the opening brushstroke, and the playlist starts in the 70s with disco strings, soft rock and the Aussie pub anthems that once rattled every beer garden in the country. By the second half the 80s have taken over with synths, shoulder-pad power ballads and choruses written for a carload of mates with the windows down. Each song gives the paint a few minutes to set before your host calls the next step.
Your host guides the whole room through Prick My Interest, a desert sunset with two tall saguaro cacti, one stage at a time on the mic. The sky goes on in broad horizontal bands, so even a nervous first-timer has the hard part done before the cacti arrive, and by the final layer everyone is comparing moons across the table.
There's a lot to like about a 1pm start. You're finished by about 4pm with the whole evening still free, which works whether you're driving home or staying on in wine country. Girls' weekends in the Hunter are made for this, and so is a December birthday that deserves more than cake at the kitchen bench. Keen on a proper lunch as well? RidgeView's own restaurant, Harvest, takes bookings, so reserve that table separately.
Huntlee is about eight minutes away, and it's an easy drive from Branxton, Greta, Cessnock, Singleton and Maitland, so a carload from almost anywhere in the Hunter can be at an easel by 1pm. Sort out who's driving before the first glass is poured. More dates in the region sit on our Hunter Valley paint and sip page, and the decade's other singalongs live under 70s and 80s paint and sip.
Today's Artwork
Prick My Interest
A long way from the vineyards, this is a desert at sunset. The sky is painted in bold horizontal bands of deep blue, turquoise and orange, glowing into bright yellow on the horizon. A pale crescent moon and a scattering of stars sit up high. In front, two tall saguaro cacti lift their arms high, while little cacti dot the sandy hills behind them and tufts of grass soften the foreground. Big, bright and broken into easy steps.

"I could not have been more impressed with the lovely and talented duo who ran the evening! I had an absolutely brilliant night and so much fun with the singing and the painting... I am seriously hoping there are future plans to return to Lithgow because I will absolutely go again 😍"

FAQs
Who's singing this afternoon?
Lotti Rem, singing live from the first song to the last and carrying the room from disco into the big 80s choruses.
What will I be painting?
Prick My Interest: two saguaro cacti with their arms in the air, standing in front of a desert sky striped deep blue, turquoise and orange, under a thin slice of moon. It's one of our catalogue paintings, and private bookings can have the colours tweaked at no charge.
How long is the session?
Brushes are up at 1pm and the session runs up to 3 hours, which has you out the door with your canvas by about 4pm.
I haven't painted since primary school. Is that a problem?
Not one bit. Your host demonstrates every stage first, the sky is just wide stripes of colour, and the cacti are simple shapes you build up layer on layer.
Do I have to sing along?
Not at all. Singing is optional, though by the time the 80s arrive most of the room has found a voice it didn't know it had.
Can I come without a friend?
Of course. Come solo and we'll seat you beside a friendly group, so you're chatting by the time the first layer goes on.
We each bought our own tickets. Can our easels be together?
Yes. Whatever you call your crew, put that in the "sitting with friends" note on each order and we'll line your easels up in a row.
Can I bring my own wine?
No BYO, sorry. RidgeView's boutique cellar door focuses on wines made from 100% Hunter fruit, so buy your drinks from the venue on the day.
Would this suit a hens party or birthday weekend?
Perfect for either. Pop the guest of honour's name in a note at checkout and they'll hear a shout-out from the host partway through the afternoon.
Can I just turn up and pay at the door?
No. Tickets are sold online through this page only, so book before you head out to Pokolbin.
Could we book a private afternoon for our group?
You can. It's $700 AUD flat for up to 10 guests, then $65 a head beyond that, and we need at least 10 paid seats. Any painting in our catalogue is fair game, and colour changes cost nothing. Plan a private session.
