Armidale Paint and Sip Recap
Armidale, you bloody turned it on.
That was our last major Paint and Sip for the year and honestly, if we were trying to go out quietly… you lot did not get the memo. Sold out, full house, and “calm and civilised” lasted about as long as the first chorus.
Outside it was properly Armidale. Drizzly, chilly, that classic December plot twist where you’re meant to be in a festive little summer frock but you’re also considering a jacket. Inside though? Glorious. The air con actually did its job, the room was pumping, and the whole place had that warm, buzzy energy that only happens when a crowd turns up ready to have a crack.

The setup was made for chaos (the good kind)
This venue is a dream for a big night. Massive stage, proper space, and a layout that lets a sold-out room feel lively without feeling squished. You could look up and see rows and rows of easels going the distance, everyone locked in on their canvases, drinks on tables, paint palettes everywhere, and that beautiful mix of concentration and absolute nonsense.
And the bar situation. Elite.
Own bar. Own bar staff. No sad line-ups where people start bargaining with the universe for a cold drink. Just smooth service, people ducking up, grabbing what they wanted, and sliding back into their seat like they were in a very arty relay race.

The painting: big giraffe energy
We went with our bright, cheeky giraffe portrait and Armidale understood the assignment immediately.
Big shapes, bold colour, and enough personality in those eyes to judge your life choices from across the room. Some of you kept it classic with a strong blue background. Some went full party mode with pinks, florals, patterns, glittery vibes, and backgrounds that looked like your giraffe was headlining their own music festival.
The best part is always seeing how different everyone’s turns out, even when you’re all following the same steps. Same giraffe, completely different attitudes. Some were sweet. Some were feral. A couple looked like they’d definitely steal your chips and not feel bad about it.
Which is exactly what we want.
Because this is the thing people forget: you don’t come to Paint Juicy to “learn art”. You come for a night out where you accidentally leave with something you’re proud of.

Lotti Rem did not come to play
Now, the real reason the night went loose in the best way.
Lotti Rem fed you every tune you didn’t know you needed, then somehow escalated the whole room into rock-style Christmas carols that absolutely went off. Not “gentle background music while you paint”. Proper, belting, commit-to-the-moment stuff.
The stage made it even better because the energy wasn’t trapped at the front. It travelled. You could feel it run down the tables as people started singing louder, laughing more, painting faster, and getting braver with every song.
You know it’s a good night when someone says “I’m not singing” and then five minutes later they’re doing backing vocals to a room full of strangers like it’s their job.

The mic moments were elite
One of the best parts of the night was how many of you wandered up and had your turn at the mic.
Not in a polished, “look at me” way either. In the exact way we love: a little bit chaotic, very brave, slightly unhinged, and fully supported by the room cheering you on like you were headlining the grand final.
That is what makes a Paint Juicy night. It’s not just the painting. It’s the shared permission to be loud, silly, and confident for a couple of hours, even if you walked in saying you couldn’t paint or sing for shit.

Huge thanks to the Armidale regulars
Big love to everyone who came along, and an even bigger one to the regulars who keep showing up and yelling lyrics with us.
You’re the reason we can keep dragging our travelling circus back to town. You’ve made Armidale one of those stops that feels like family, even when the room’s full of new faces. The vibe you set is unreal, and it pulls everyone else into it.
If you came for the first time, you were instantly adopted. No paperwork required.

The vibe: loose, warm, and exactly what we needed
There was something extra special about this one being the last session for the year. People were ready to let go. Ready to laugh. Ready to sing something ridiculous at full volume, then sit back down and paint a giraffe with a floral crown like that’s a normal Tuesday.
That’s the magic of it. You don’t have to be good. You just have to show up.
And Armidale showed up.

Photos, tags, and proof you’re all legends
The photos say it all. Big room, big stage, big energy, and a wall of colourful giraffes that honestly deserve their own gallery opening.
If you spot your masterpiece in the mix, tag yourself and your crew. We love seeing the finished canvases out in the wild, sitting proudly on someone’s kitchen bench like “yes, I did this, and yes, I also screamed Christmas carols like a rock star”.

Until next time, Armidale
Thanks for ending the year with a sold-out, full-throttle, feel-good night. You made it easy for us to leave town with full hearts and probably a mild ringing in our ears, which is how it should be.
From us, thank you. Come see us again for the best Armidale Paint and Sip the town has to offer!
