Bundaberg 80s and 90s Paint and Sip Recap

Bundaberg turned up loud and colourful. We packed the room with 50 legends, including a rowdy birthday crew of 20 who arrived already in party mode. Neon, denim, scrunchies, band tees… it was like stepping into a mixtape.

The vibe

From the first brushstroke, it was all shoulder-shimmies and singalongs. We cranked the 80s and 90s bangers and the crowd did the rest. Between painting steps, there were mini karaoke moments, call-and-response choruses and a few questionable dance moves that absolutely counted as cardio.

On the easels

The session artwork was our cheeky giraffe, and the interpretations were pure gold. Think big blue eyes, fluttery lashes, heart-shaped spots, florals, butterflies and a thousand personality quirks. We worked through smooth sky gradients, simple facial features, highlight-and-shadow tricks and dot details to make everything pop. Beginners got wins early, confident painters went wild with colour, and everyone finished with something they were proud to show off.

Birthday mayhem

The birthday crew made the room feel like a private party. Toasts were made, candles were pretended, and the loudest chorus of “happy birthday” we’ve heard in a while echoed between paint splatters. They brought the energy; the rest of the room happily matched it.

Sweet touches

We handed out lolly packs for a nostalgic sugar hit. Sherbets, jellies, chewy favourites… the kind of stash that magically disappears between blending layers and adding whiskers. Drinks flowed, laughs got louder, and the paint water looked suspiciously like grape cordial by the end. FYI, they did not drink it... this time!

Dress-ups & singalongs

Costumes absolutely delivered: acid-wash, fluoro bangles, classic rock tees, glitter everywhere. Lotti-style vocals came from the crowd all night, with brave souls taking quick turns on the mic while the rest of the room belted the hooks. Painting plus karaoke is chaotic perfection, and Bundy proved it again.

Why we love Bundy

Bundaberg shows up with heart. Friendly staff, chill venue, playful guests and that brilliant Wide Bay sense of humour. We come to make art and memories, and somehow leave with new mates and sore cheeks from laughing.
