Townsville Paint and Sip Recap, singalongs and a proper Christmas vibe
Townsville, you absolute legends. Our 4th of December Paint and Sip was a sold out full house again, and you lot showed up exactly how we like it: loud in the best way, keen to paint, keen to sing, and fully ready to turn “I can’t paint” into “hang on… I might be iconic.”
This one was Santorini themed, so the room was basically Greece-by-way-of-North-Queensland: bright colours, big laughs, and that cheeky holiday energy where everyone’s already half in Christmas mode even if the calendar is pretending we’re still being responsible adults.

The vibe: full house, zero shyness, maximum fun
You could feel it straight away. Busy tables, paint getting cracked open, people scoping out everyone else’s canvas like, “Yours looks good, I hate you (affectionate).” It was one of those nights where the room is buzzing before we’ve even finished the first proper step.
And because it was the last stretch into Christmas, there was that extra sparkle floating around. Not actual sparkle. Just the kind that happens when people are out with their mates, having a laugh, and giving themselves permission to be a bit silly for a few hours. Highly recommended, honestly.

The artwork: Santorini on a canvas (and it looked bloody good)
The Santorini-style piece is one of our favourites because it hits the sweet spot: it looks impressive, it’s achievable, and it lets everyone make it their own without the pressure of being “perfect”.
Some of you went clean and classic, crisp shapes and smooth colour blocks. Others went full chaos in the best way, brighter colours, extra details, more personality than the original plan ever asked for. We saw bold blues, warm sandy tones, and plenty of “I’m adding this because I feel like it” energy, which is exactly the correct attitude for Paint.
End result: a room full of paintings that all clearly belonged to the same night, but none looked copy-paste. That’s the goal.

James hosting: microphone confidence and crowd participation (Townsville understood the assignment)
James hosted tonight and you all made his job easy by being the kind of crowd that actually gets involved. The singalong moments were proper, the banter landed, and you didn’t need coaxing to have fun.
It’s always a win when the room collectively decides, “Yep, we’re doing this,” and Townsville did not hesitate. The energy was up, the laughs were constant, and the whole thing felt like a Christmas party without the awkward forced small talk.

Christmas tunes: festive, loud, and completely necessary
This one had Christmas vibes and Christmas tunes running through the night, and it worked perfectly with the Santorini theme. A weird combo on paper, but in real life it’s elite: holiday visuals on the canvas, holiday chaos in the room.
You know it’s a good night when people are painting one minute, belting out a chorus the next, then immediately going back to their canvas like they didn’t just perform a small concert at their table.

What the night actually is (for anyone new reading this)
Paint nights aren’t “art school”. Thank god. They’re a night out where you leave with a painting and a good memory, even if you swear you “can’t paint” (which is usually said by people who end up doing something unreal).

Why Townsville nights hit different
Townsville crowds have this magic mix of:
-
friendly as anything
-
ready to have a laugh
-
willing to give it a go
-
and not too precious to sing loudly while holding a paintbrush
That’s why we keep coming back, and why these sessions keep selling out. It’s not because the paint is magical. It’s because the people are.

Thank you (because it needs to be said)
Massive thanks to everyone who came along and made this a proper end-of-year calibre session. And an extra big shout out to the returners who keep showing up, supporting what we do, and bringing mates along like it’s your personal mission to make sure Townsville stays fun. We see you, and we love you for it.
If you took photos, posted stories, or tagged us, you’re a real one. That stuff genuinely helps us keep the wheels turning and the tour alive.
What’s next
Townsville, keep your eyes on our upcoming Townsville Paint and Sip dates because if December is anything to go by, you’re not going to want to miss the next one. Same chaos, same fun, new theme, and another excuse to get out of the house and do something that isn’t doom scrolling on the couch.
Until then, pop your painting somewhere visible so you can look at it and think: “I did that.” Because you did. Even if you complained the whole time.
